Rashes on baby face as any other part of body might occur because baby has not yet develop immune system completely. The causes of the rash are varied too. Rash on baby face especially with pimple might due to virus, skin disorder or any other causes. Some of the rash will eventually fade away on its own while the other rashes needs professional medication.
Here are some possibilities of pimple like rashes on baby face:
The rash which is due to rosacea or acne rosacea. Rosacea is a kind of a chronic skin disorder that initiated with redness, flushing on face especially on the cheeks and nose. Other than red rash on face, disorder can cause pimple-like flare-ups too. Rosacea needs medical treatments such as topical or oral antibiotics. Medicated lotions, creams, or washes might be needed too.
The other possibility of pimple like rashes on baby face is milia. Baby especially newborn baby has this rash. Milia is identified as white bumps resembling pimple as a result of accumulation of dead skin cells found on the face. This skin condition will eventually resolve on its own within days or weeks.
Viral illness such as measles or rubeola might be the causes of rash on baby face too. The symptoms are fever, cough, runny nose and pimply rash. The rash usually begins on hairline area and then the rash spreads to other part of body such as face, neck, trunk and then to arms and legs before fading away in about five to six days.
The next possibility is shingles. Shingles is a reactivated varicella-zoster virus following the chickenpox. Face is the main spot for shingles to occur. Shingles is initiated with pain, itching or burning sensation in the affected area of skin within days after that shingles lesions erupt on face. Shingles is identified as red blister bumps that turn into pus filled that eventually crust over and resolve within weeks.
